Does healthy go on a diet during pregnancy?

Today diet during pregnancy is widely applied by pregnant women. Fear of weight gain due to pregnancy, and fear will difficult to lose weight after giving birth make many pregnant women run a diet. But, how to go on a diet during pregnancy?

• Due to the baby in the womb. Baby's nutritional needs are as important as the nutrients needed by pregnant women. Because of the food consumed by pregnant women will also be absorbed by the fetus, then there are certain moments in which pregnant women want to eat more. With the increasing of appetite then the mother's weight will also increase.
• The amount of fluid in the body increases. Water in the body will increase by about 6.5 liters during pregnancy than the normal amount, thus the volume of amniotic fluid will also increase.

  • The need for calcium. The function of calcium is for bone formation of the baby and to reduce the risk of osteoporosis in pregnant women. Good sources of calcium are milk, almonds and yogurt.
  • The need for folic acid. Folic acid may help reduce the risk of brain damage, producing red blood cells and placental growth. Foods that contain folic acid include broccoli, bananas, avocados, spinach.The need for iron. During pregnancy, red blood cells will increase 30%. Therefore, iron is needed for the formation of hemoglobin. Placental and fetal growth are also requires iron. Iron intake can be obtained from eggs, hearing, spinach, soybeans and its processed product, broccoli and red meat.
